My husband had to go online and do a search for Concord chiropractors because I was in too much pain to even think about getting out of bed and sitting at the computer to seek help. The problem started the previous day when I was sitting on the front porch watching my teenage daughter skateboarding in the street. I remembered with some fondness how I used to do the same thing back in the 1970s. I was pretty good at it, too. Better than anyone in the area and better than most of the boys, too.
My daughter came up to sit with me and I started telling her stories about how great I was with a skateboard. So of course one thing led to another and there I was out in the street doing flips and just showing off. It was fun to ride one again, but I forgot I was a lot older and a lot heavier than I was back in the 1970s. At one point my equilibrium got thrown off and I ended up taking an epic spill in the road. The scrapes on my arms and hands paled in comparison to the howling pain in my back.
My daugher got her father and both of them helped me into bed. My husband kept giving me dirty looks, but he was nice enough to help line up an appointment with a chiropractor. We were able to get in the next day and after an examination the chiropractor determined I had a muscle sprain and likely a pinched nerve in my back. Adjustments followed, which didn’t hurt nearly as bad as I thought they would, and I actually walked out of the clinic under my own power. I went back twice and now I’m right as rain…and staying off the skateboard forever!
